Hopkinton Library News October 2022

October is Global Diversity Awareness Month and the Hopkinton Library is celebrating cultural diversity with many different displays and programs for all ages. In addition to displays on “Own Voices: The American Immigrant Experience,” “German Heritage” and “Italian Heritage,” adults can participate in our monthly take-and-make, which in October, will be an origami star. Children can participate in a scavenger hunt that highlights the different diverse books in our collection.

Save the date - the Senior Fair is back October 22nd!

State Senate President Karen E. Spilka’s annual health and wellness fair returns to an in-person format with an invitation for younger generations to accompany older family members to the event slated for October 22, 2022. The popular event, open to all residents of the MetroWest region, will continue to offer fun and informative activities as well as food, music, 70 vendors, and prize drawings at its venue at Keefe Technical School in Framingham.

HCAM unveiled their new Wednesday "must see HCAM-TV" lineup on September 21st. The lineup features HCAM Sports Talk at 5:30pm, HCAM News at 6:30pm, our newest regular live program "Hopkinton Weekly" at 7pm and a new premiere program following at 7:30pm.

Hopkinton Seniors Police and Fire Battle at 2022 annual Bocce Showdown. This tradition started in 2015 and continues on an annual basis minus the COVID year. Police, Fire, and residents with staff from Senior Center participated in the much-anticipated bocce tournament.

Weston Nurseries hosted their annual Blooms, Brews and BBQ event featuring food and beverages from local establishments and great local music.

All proceeds benefit the Jimmy Fund walk in the effort to fight cancer. Weston Nurseries has been helping the Jimmy Fund for several years.
