Let Students Treat Themselves After Hard Work

Many students can get overwhelmed at times with homework assignments, especially when homework involves large projects or the teens’ “worst” subjects.
To lessen procrastination and stress, encourage your teen to promise herself a reward when she finishes a hard task. Knowing she has a treat waiting for her will make her more eager to get the job done.

The reward could be playing a game, reading a book or chatting on the phone with a friend. You could promise her a treat as well. But she knows best what will get her motivated.

ESBC Information Sessions Scheduled Ahead of Hopkinton’s Special Town Meeting

With a warrant article for Special Town Meeting on the calendar for October 26, Hopkinton’s Elementary School Building Committee has created multiple venues to raise awareness of the school building project, and encourage the community to participate in the vote.

“Our goal is to pass this with overwhelming endorsement from a broad crosssection of the community," said ESBC Chairman Joe Markey. "We believe we have crafted a solution that the community will recognize and can embrace."

Hopkinton Awarded $14M Grant for New Center Elementary School

BOSTON—State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, Chair of the Massachusetts
School Building Authority (MSBA), and MSBA Executive Director Jack
McCarthy today announced that the MSBA Board of Directors voted to approve a
grant of up to $14 million to replace the existing Center Elementary School in
Hopkinton with a new facility. One of the next steps is for the District and the
MSBA to enter into a Project Funding Agreement, which will detail the project’s
scope and budget, along with the conditions under which the Town will receive its
MSBA grant.

Friends of Whitehall Eleventh Annual Fall Lake Cleanup

On Saturday, October 17, the Friends of Whitehall will be holding their eleventh annual Fall Lake Cleanup. Cleanup is from 9:00 AM-12:00 PM. We will meet at the state boat ramp on Wood Street (Rt. 135) in Hopkinton, where trash gathered from around the lake can be brought to the receptacles throughout the weekend.

Trash, recycling bins, maps, bags, hand tools, water, coffee, cocoa and snacks will be provided. Please bring hiking boots, work gloves, and your family. Boats for cleaning the islands are optional.

Third Annual Pumpkin Decorating Contest at the Hopkinton Public Library

The pumpkin decorating contest for Middle & High School students returns to the Hopkinton Public Library! The decorating will take place on Friday, October 9 at 2:30 PM, and you must be registered by October 7 to participate. Decorated pumpkins will be on display at the Library. Library patrons will vote on their favorites, and prize winners will be announced on Friday, October 30.
