HCAM and HopNews Present 2024 Hopkinton Select Board Debate, Sunday April 28th at 4pm!

On Sunday, April 28th, HCAM with the assistance of HopNews will host our annual contested races debates live from our HCAM Studios starting at 4:00pm.

This years debate features candidates for (2) 3-year Select Board seats. This year's Select Board race features 4 candidates running for two available seats. Candidates include; Brian Herr, Joe Clark, Kyla McSweeney and Peter Mimmo.

HCAM News Director, Tom Nappi will moderate and ask questions along with Peter Thomas, HopNews Editor in-Chief.

On April 16th, Hopkinton Town Manager, Norman Khumalo worked his final Hopkinton Select Board meeting. After 15 years as Town Manager, Norman stepped down to pursue other ventures.

In the segment below, current Select Board members and former Select Board member, Brendan Tedstone paid tribute and thanks to the many invaluable contributions Norman has made to the community during his tenure and the speech from Norman to the Hopkinton community.

Community Notice: Hopkinton Select Board Seeking Volunteer Resident for Town Manager Screening Committee

The Hopkinton Select Board is seeking a resident to serve as a volunteer committee member on the Town Manager Screening Committee comprised of six members. The charge of the Committee is to work with Community Paradigm, a municipal search firm hired to assist with the process. The Committee will review all resumes that will be received and will recommend finalists to the Select Board for a final interview. If interested, please submit your intent to Town Hall, in person or via hr@hopkintonma.gov, with your professional background by May 2, 2024.

Hopkinton Police Department Reminds Motorists to Stay Alert, Focus on Driving in Recognition of Distracted Driving Awareness Month

As part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month, Chief Joseph Bennett and the Hopkinton Police Department want to remind residents to stay focused while operating a vehicle.

April is designated as Distracted Driving Awareness Month, which aims to raise awareness about the importance of attentive and engaged driving and the dangers distracted driving poses to everyone on the road, including other drivers, bicyclists and pedestrians.

Applications Open for Operation Money Wise, Veteran Financial Education Funding

In collaboration with the Division of Banks (DOB) and the Office of Consumer Affairs and Business Regulation (OCABR), the State Treasurer’s Office of Economic Empowerment (OEE) announced a new round of funding for Operation Money Wise. This grant program offers funding to veteran-serving non-profit organizations, public agencies, and higher education institutions to host financial programming that serves the Military, Veteran, Family, and Survivor Community (MVFSC).

Appropriation Committee Public Hearing April 10th at 5pm

The Appropriation Committee will hold a public hearing to present the FY2025 comprehensive town budget on Wednesday April 10, 2024 at 5:00 PM at the Hopkinton Town Hall Second Floor Conference Room 215, 18 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA.

The notice of the meeting will be posted no later than 48 hours prior to the start of the meeting, per the meeting law.
