Hopkinton Select Board Votes to Terminate Timothy Brennan from Hopkinton Police Department

On Thursday evening, at the continuation of the hearing that was paused on Jan. 19, the Hopkinton Select Board voted to terminate the employment of Timothy Brennan from the Hopkinton Police Department.

After the Select Board paused the meeting on Jan. 19, the Town of Hopkinton and counsel for the labor union had attempted to resolve the matter in a mutually acceptable manner. Those discussions were unsuccessful, resulting in Thursday's vote.

Termination is effective Monday, Feb. 12.

Middlesex Sheriff's Office urges residents to be alert for arrest scams

The Middlesex Sheriff’s Office (MSO) is urging residents to be aware of ongoing arrest scams in the area.

The new warning comes after multiple local residents – including four on January 29 alone – reported receiving calls from individuals falsely posing as Middlesex Sheriff’s Office deputies or staff members.

Treasurer Goldberg Announces $51 Million in Grants for 14 Municipal Water Projects at the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust Board of Trustees January Meeting

State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, Chair of the Massachusetts Clean Water Trust (Trust) Board of Trustees, announced on January 17, 2024, that $51 million in grants were awarded for 14 projects in 12 communities across Massachusetts. The grant funds will help cities, towns, counties, and water utilities pay for the $237 million in total project cost for improvements to drinking water and wastewater infrastructure.

Main Street Corridor Project Update - January 26, 2024

A construction meeting was held on January 23. In attendance were representatives from the Town, VHB, MassDOT, Amorello, and Eversource. Amorello confirmed during the meeting that they have not set a time for returning to the project. Utility work, including both overhead and underground work, needs to be completed before Amorello will be able to schedule any work.

Middlesex County Restoration Center Pilot Advances with Selection of Clinical Provider

Today, the Executive Office of Health and Human Services and the Middlesex County Restoration Center Commission, announced the Commission has selected Vinfen as its clinical partner as it works towards establishing the first law enforcement focused crisis diversion facility in the Commonwealth. With an aim of diverting individuals away from criminal justice involvement and into treatment, the state’s first Restoration Center will have a “no wrong door” policy, providing walk-in and police drop-off opportunities to serve those in need of behavioral health care in the community.
