The Board of Health and Health Department Sponsoring Flu Clinic next Tuesday and Wednesday at the Senior Center

Flu season is upon us and the Hopkinton Health Department has partnered with AFC Urgent Care of Natick and Marlborough to provide two flu vaccination clinics to the residents and employees of Hopkinton. The clinics will run from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in the Crafts Room of the Senior Center located at 28 Mayhew Street, on 10/9/18 and 10/10/18.

"The Hopkinton Senior Center and Hopkinton Library will be hosting another Our Time Memory Cafe’ event Tuesday,
September 11th, 1-3 at the Hopkinton Library, 13 Main Street, Hopkinton, MA. The event is offered for those in Hopkinton and surrounding areas living with forgetfulness, mild cognitive impairment, or dementia and their caregiver, family, and friends.

Marla Murasko stopped by the HCAM studios to speak about her and her Sons State House visit during "Massachusetts Down Syndrome Advocacy Day" and her new book "Adventures with a Special Traveler". Marla's 11 year old son, Jacob was diagnosed with down syndrome and a congenital heart defect.

Upcoming events include June 12th, July 10th, August 14th and September 11th. "Our Time Memory Cafe is a welcoming gathering for those experiencing forgetfulness, mild cognitive impairment, or living with dementia and their care partner, family, and friends. The monthly events are free, offering conversation and refreshments in a relaxing atmosphere.

Board of Health Passes Plastic Bag Ban and Increases Tobacco Age

On Monday Night, the Hopkinton Board of Health hosted two Public Hearings. The first public hearing was "to consider adoption of a reduction in Single-Use plastic check out bags." The regulation bans single-use plastic check-out bags at any retail or grocery store within the town of Hopkinton. After no protest at the Public Hearing, the Board of Health voted unanimously to pass the regulation. The Board of Health will be the enforcing authority to ensure that all retail and grocery store businesses within Hopkinton comply with the regulation.

Rape Aggression Defense Systems Training for Women ONLY

R.A.D. is an internationally taught realistic hands on self defense training class specifically designed for women (15 hours)

 The program teaches and emphasizes awareness, avoidance and physical self defense with the tools we possess with us at all times (hands, feet, elbows, knees, head, etc…)

 All ages, sizes and physical capabilities are welcome (ages 14, 15 or 16; parental waiver will be needed – 13 and under is too young for this class)

 The class is sponsored by the Hopkinton Police Department and free of charge  Manuals are provided
