Xin Dong, 53
Xin Dong, aged 53, of Hopkinton, MA, passed away peacefully on November 26th, 2023, with his loving wife and son by his side. Known for his warm smile and unwavering determination, Xin left a permanent mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Despite a sudden brain aneurysm burst, Xin fought a lengthy and courageous battle to the end.
Gerard J. “Jerry” Rivell, 85
Gerard J. “Jerry” Rivell, 85, a Hopkinton resident since 1978, passed away suddenly at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, on Monday, November 13, 2023. He was the husband of Lorraine M. (Domanski) Rivell to whom he was married for 63 years. Jerry was born in Newark, NJ, the son of the late Gerard and Martha (Harabin) Rivell.
Jerry was a graduate of St. Benedict Prep in Newark, NJ, and West Point, prior to serving in the U. S. Army from 1960-1963. He then went on to earn an MBA from Western New England College, and a PHD in Education from Boston University.
André J. Navez, 89
André J. Navez, age 89, Hopkinton, Mass. died on November 7, 2023, at his home. He is survived by his beloved wife, Christine R. Whittaker, who was a British civil servant and became a lawyer and Episcopal priest after emigrating to the United States. His first wife, Judith L. Grapperhaus, died in 1992 after 29 years of marriage. There are no children from either marriage.
Mary Brown, 85
Mary H. Brown, 85, of Hopkinton, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023. Born in Owensboro, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Lillie (Wood) Henry. She was the wife of 61 years to the late George A. Brown.
A beloved mother, grandmother, and dear friend, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Mary had a passion for life that was evident in her ever-present smile and the sparkle in her eyes. Her love for her family was the cornerstone of her existence.
John R. McBride, 86
John R. McBride, 86, died November 1, 2023 surrounded by family. He was the husband of Carol A. (McManus) McBride, whom he was married to for 62 years. Born in Milford, MA he was the son of George J. and Dorothy (McKinnon) McBride formerly of Hopkinton, MA.
A long-time Hopkinton resident, he graduated from Hopkinton High School in 1957 where he excelled in football, baseball and basketball and was enshrined in the Hopkinton High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
