Anthony Alessi, 74

Anthony Alessi, 74, of Holliston, passed away at his home on Friday, September 6, 2019. He was the son of the late Phyllis (Mattson) and Salvatore Alessi.

A combat veteran of the Vietnam war, Anthony was a well decorated Corporal in the Marines, serving in the 1st Battalion 7th Marines. He was a devoted family man who loved time spent with family and friends. Anthony was a Mason, a member of the American Legion, an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing, and took pleasure in dancing at the Arthur Murray Dance Studio in Natick.

Elaine P. Awiszus, 80

Elaine P. Awiszus, 80, of Hopkinton, passed away Thursday, September 5, 2019. Born in Somerville, she was the daughter of the late Rita (Moreau) and George MacLeod. She was the wife of 60 years to Ernest A. Awiszus of Hopkinton.

Ernest and Elaine had met while working at Manning, Maxwell and Moore in Watertown. Prior to her retirement in 1997, Elaine had worked for 11 years at Newton North High School as the secretary to the Vice Principal. She enjoyed watching her husband coach and play sports.

Lisa Soo Kane, 38

Lisa Soo Kane, 38, of Framingham and formerly of Hopkinton, passed away Monday, August 26, 2019. Born in Seoul, South Korea, she was the daughter of Susan (Vachout) Kane of Westborough and the late Charles Kane.

Lisa was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Natick. Besides her mother, she is survived by her brother, Jeffrey Kane and his wife, Katie Yahns of Sherrill, New York.

Susan V. Lukey, 68

Susan V. Lukey, 68, of Hopkinton, passed away unexpectedly due to medical complications on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester. Born in Orange, MA, she was the daughter of the late Marjorie (McLaughlin) and Thomas Keller. She was the wife of 47 years to Clarence “Skip” Lukey of Hopkinton.

Georgia L. Straight, 85

Georgia L. Straight, 85, died Monday, August 19, 2019 in Milford after a brief illness. She was the wife of Robert W. Straight, to whom she was married, for 66 years, and resided with in Hopkinton. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Cleveland and Ann (Eldridge) Spaulding.

Georgia was a 1953 graduate of Natick High School and was employed for over 20 years as a Manager at Fenwal in Ashland. She also worked as a Manager in the cafeteria at Hopkinton High School for 13 years.

George R. Desmond, 89

George R. Desmond of Framingham, formerly of Sherborn, Massachusetts passed away
peacefully on August 13, 2019. He was the husband of Alice B. Desmond to whom he
was married for 59 years. Born in Framingham in 1930 he was the son of the late George
R. Desmond, Sr. and Kathryn Orzeck Desmond. He graduated from St Stephen School,
Framingham, Boston College High School in 1947 and Boston College in 1951. He
started law school at Boston College and then served in the U.S. Army 66th Counter

Irene N. (Snyer) Sands, 83

Irene N. (Snyer) Sands, 83, of Winchester, NH and formerly of Hopkinton, MA passed away Monday, August 12, 2019. Born and raised in Hopkinton, she was the daughter of the late Irene “Sue” (Davis) and Peter Snyer. She was the wife of 37 years to the late Theodore “Ted” Sands.

John “Johnny” Irvine, 66

It is with great sadness that the family of John Irvine announces his sudden passing on Thursday, July 18, 2019, at the age of 66 years. He was born in Framingham, MA on September 20, 1952 to Wallace Irvine and the late Mary Gould Irvine of Hopkinton, MA. John is survived by his life partner, Barry Lee Jones, his father, Wallace Irvine and stepmother, Alberta Irvine. He leaves behind his daughter, Laura Irvine-Courage, son-in-law, Dave Courage, and sons, Adam Irvine and his wife, Sally and James Irvine. He has two grandchildren, Isabella and Olivia Courage.

Edward F. L’Antigua III, 86

Edward F. L’Antigua III, 86, of Hopkinton and a former longtime resident of Holliston, passed away Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Blaire House in Worcester. Born in Boston and raised in Watertown, he was the son of the late Mary (Lehan) and Edward F. L’Antigua Jr. He was the husband of 64 years to Joyce (Alexander) L’Antigua of Hopkinton.
