Pre-register Now for HPTA FIRST LEGO League

Once again Hopkinton Middle School and HPTA are looking to provide opportunities for students to participate in FIRST LEGO League, an international robotics and science competition.

The program requires teams to participate equally in both a robot game (using LEGO NXT robots and MINDSTORMS software) and a research project, and requires significant work from participants both at team sessions and at home. Please visit the FLL website to learn more about the program.

1-1 Laptop Initiative Gets Approval for Fall 2012

Hopkinton High School is pleased to announce that the Hopkinton School Committee unanimously approved moving forward with the 1-1 laptop initiative for the 9th graders at the high school next year at their meeting on Thursday, June 14th. 83% of parents in the incoming 9th grade class committed to either lease a laptop from the school or bring in their own device, which surpassed the 80% goal which was set by the administration. Students who are not leasing a laptop from the school or bringing their own device, will have access to a school owned laptop to use during the school day.

Joint Meeting Tonight to Review Town Building Report

The Board of Selectmen will meet in a joint session with the School Committee and the Appropriations Committee tonight, Wednesday, June 13, In the Middle School Library. The meeting begins at 6:30PM with business related to the South West Village at Legacy Farms and the review of the Town Building Report completed by the Permanent Building Committee begins at 7PM and is scheduled to last until 8:30PM at which time the selectmen will go into Executive Session to consider contract negotiations.
