The Hopkinton Center for the Arts is excited for the return of our 17th annual Arts in Bloom show. The theme for this years exhibition was hope, perseverance and the strength of the human spirit. The art call received 155 submissions from Massachusetts and surrounding states. The Arts in Bloom juror Sorin Bica, selected 40 for display in this year’s exhibition.

Six pieces were identified for an award and will be honored with fresh flower arrangements designed by the Hopkinton Garden Club members and will be on display May 26–May 29. There will be a free artist reception open to the public on May 26 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m.

About The Juror
Sorin Bica is a contemporary artist based in the Boston area, frequently sought for his unique large-scale abstract and figurative paintings. The use of intense color and expressive figures can be seen through-out his work. Sorin was born in Bucharest, Romania where he studied at Scoala Populara de Arta. He began his career drawing political cartoons in his native country. He moved to the USA in 1988 where he studied art at Worcester State University.

He continued to combine the cartoonish drawings with his painting, subsequently resulting in his present style. Sorin's work can be found in many public, private and corporate collections both in the United States and abroad. He is a resident artist at SOWA artist Studios in Boston and The Mill Contemporary Art in Framingham, MA. Sorin is also the Curator and Owner at Project B Gallery in Framingham, MA. Sorin is represented by Barba Contemporary Art Gallery, Palm Springs CA. Fountain Street Fine Arts, Boston MA, AZ Fine Art, Chestnut Hill MA, Paula Esty Gallery in Newburyport MA and Project B Gallery in Framingham MA.
