High school honors classes typically involve advanced work and high demands. In Hopkinton High School’s art department, they also feature an opportunity to have work selected for exhibition in the Lotvin Family Gallery at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.

Moreover, students whose art is chosen are involved in producing the annual exhibition, working with faculty to prepare and install the show and to host the opening reception. This year eleven seniors and two juniors take on these challenges.

Junior Patrick Webb’s photograph Wandering Journey is featured on this year’s announcement. In it, a zigzag line of wooden planks defines a trail away from us through close greenery and tall trees under a grey sky, an image of charting a course through what’s ahead, a fit metaphor for a graduate-to-be.

Rising Talent is on exhibition from March 21 through April 11. A free reception for the artists and the public will be held at the gallery on Thursday, March 22 from 6 to 7 pm.

“This is our fourteenth year of collaboration with the high school’s faculty and students,” says HCA co-director Kris Waldman. “It’s wonderful to now have the professional features of the Lotvin Family Gallery to share with them. And the opening reception is always a great time for families.”
