Over the last two months, the Hopkinton Public School District has established an Athletic Fields Sub-Committee to facilitate the development of an athletic field master plan proposal and make recommendations to the School Committee for any new capital projects that would enhance the current outdoor athletic facilities. During the life of the project, the Sub-Committee plans to identify current outdoor athletic facility conditions and constraints for the Hopkinton Public Schools while also gathering input from stakeholder groups across the community regarding current and potential usage. The Sub-Committee will obtain data from comparable communities as a point of reference. In addition to the Sub-Committee's research, there is a plan to engage the community in a series of forums designed to raise awareness around current athletic fields conditions and constraints and to solicit input regarding priorities for successful remediation or replacement, including the potential viability of turf fields. The first public forum is scheduled to take place on November 7, 2016 at 7:00pm in the Library at Hopkinton High School.
