We're excited to announce a free talk for dog owners led by renowned animal behaviorist Kelley Bollen, MS, CABC. As the owner and director of Animal Alliances, LLC, Kelley consults with pet owners and shelters to improve the lives of companion animals. Join us for this exciting talk and Q&A session from 10am-noon, Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.
Why Does My Dog Do That and How Do I Get Him to Stop?
Dogs do a lot of things that people don’t really like. Behaviors like barking, digging, chewing, and jumping on people are a few of them. While many of these behaviors are normal for dogs, there are strategies to manage, change or redirect these annoying behaviors to more acceptable ones. This lecture will explain why dogs do some of the things they do and how you can work to change them.
About our presenter
Kelley Bollen has a Master's Degree in Animal Behavior and is a Certified Animal Behavior Consultant (CABC) and a professional member of the International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants (IAABC). She is also a professional member of the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (APDT). Her goal as a companion animal behavior consultant is to improve the human-animal bond by increasing her client's understanding of animal behavior and behavior modification. Kelley offers private behavior consultations to pet owners experiencing behavior problems with their pets, teaches a variety of dog training classes at her Northampton facility and consults with animal shelters all over the country on behavior related matters.
Kelley is a Faculty Fellow for the Center for Animals in Public Policy at Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine at Tufts and lectures in both the Shelter Medicine and Animal Behavior Courses. She also serves on the Tufts Shelter Medicine Program's Academic Steering Committee. Kelley is the former Director of Behavior Programs for the Shelter Medicine Program at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. As a shelter behavior specialist, Kelley consults with animal shelters across the country in the design and implementation of comprehensive behavior programs to address the behavioral health of the shelter animals during their stay. Kelley is also a nationally recognized invited speaker at many conferences and workshops on animal behavior.
