Dear Editor,

It has been 6 years since either of us has had a child in the Hopkinton school system, and yet we are actively working to elect Ellen Scordino to the School Committee.

Ellen is a breath of fresh air – She is the mother of two young girls, a community and business volunteer with a long history of giving back, and a partner in the law firm, Fish & Richardson. In 2012 Ellen received the prestigious Boston Business Journal’s 40 Under 40 Award.

Ellen brings a logical and thoughtful approach to problem solving, professional leadership and the ability to think and strategize at a high level, and at the same time she brings a level of pragmatism and realism, fiscal restraint and positive energy.

This year Hopkinton has the opportunity to elect someone different from the current committee – she will enhance their skills and profiles and offer something that is not just more of the same.

On Ellen’s website she says:
“I am proud of the history of our town and the status of our schools in the country. I want to partner with those focused on the betterment of the Hopkinton school system going forward. I am committed to bridging the gap between quality education and cost effective solutions. Taxpayers need a School Committee that they trust. I intend to earn that trust by respecting budget limitations and not taking hard-earned tax dollars for granted. I will peel the curtain back, seek answers to difficult questions, share information and spend your money wisely.”

She is every bit as good as she sounds and we enthusiastically endorse her! Please vote for Ellen Scordino on Monday, May 20th.
