Enter Stage Left Theater (ESL), a community theater arts organization, has merged with the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) effective September 15, 2020. The move is a welcome one to both groups and will allow them to better structure resources and to support each other in a more meaningful way. ESL, a mostly volunteer organization, has been the resident theater company at the HCA since 2010 where it produces 10 to 12 productions a year. The HCA, which underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2015, brings with it a staff and resources that will help ESL on the administrative side in a larger capacity. For patrons, the merger means HCA members will be able to receive new benefits, including discounts to ESL performances. The merger was planned between both boards of directors, and was spearheaded by HCA board chair Janet Ceddia and ESL board president Rich Gazoorian. “ESL Theater has been a key partner for the HCA since the very beginning,” HCA Director Kelly Grill said. “Both organizations have a shared vision and core values. ESL brings incredible energy, quality programming, and a dedicated group of creative volunteers to HCA.”
Hopkinton Center for the Arts is a non-profit community arts organization that works to create a place for people of all ages and abilities to study, enjoy, and participate in the visual and performing arts under one roof.
HCA annually offers over 200 classes to more than 2,000 students. In 2015, the HCA opened its expanded arts center, with newly renovated classrooms, a 200-seat performance space, and gallery spaces. HCA proudly presents over 50 productions and exhibitions a year to audiences from all over Massachusetts that showcases talented local and national artists.
