On Friday October 14, 2016 the Hopkinton Police Department rolled out the new design for the marked patrol units. Two newly designed cruisers were purchased as part of the annual fleet replacement program and funding was approved at the annual town meeting. It will take several years until the fleet is fully changed over to the new design.

Chief Lee stated: “Although the department takes great pride in the previous design, I believe this design brings the cruiser image more in line with contemporary law enforcement. The members of the department were asked to provide input and recommendations into the new design. When a department makes changes like this, it is very important to seek the input of the department members and the community, both have been very supportive of the new design.”

The only other change to the cruisers were upgrades in the roof mounted light bars The new bars allow for great versatility of the lighting system. One enhancement you will notice, is that the entire set of front facing lights can be switched to white for greater scene safety. The light bar also automatically dims at night to aid passing motorists when traveling past the parked cruisers.
