Leon A. Drowne, 57

Leon A. Drowne, 57, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at the Ledges in Hopedale. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Louis and Janet (Beauchene) Drowne. He was predeceased by his brothers Larry, John, Gary and Lester, along with his sister Donna.

He is survived by his siblings Carol Guthrie and husband William of Hopkinton, Nancy Mercer and husband Dan of Hopkinton, Joann Esser and husband John of Madison, WI and brother James Alexander and wife Ann of Northbridge. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

At the age of 16, Leon was hit by a drunk driver. He suffered a severe head injury, was paralyzed in his left leg and sustained many other internal injuries. He spent one year in a coma and several years recovering in rehab centers. He has survived many surgeries and hospitalizations throughout his life. Despite all these things, Leon has been known for his positive attitude and determination. He had a great sense of humor and was an inspiration to all that knew him. He continued to enjoy his life to the fullest.

He enjoyed going out to dinner and he had a great love of music. His greatest love was “Coffee” and a “Lottery Ticket.” His trips to Vegas with his friends were his most memorable times. Leon had a deep love of family and friends and enjoyed his visits with them immensely. We will always carry his memory in our hearts. A special thanks to all the staff members at the Ledges for the wonderful care and love that Leon received over the years.

Calling hours will take place Saturday, December 1, 2018 from 9:00 a.m to 12:00 p.m. at the Callanan Cronin Funeral Home, 34 Church St., Hopkinton, MA. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 12:00 p.m. A reception will be held after the funeral at The Ledges, 55 Mendon Road, Hopedale. Burial will be private.
