Hopkinton’s Live4Evan recently expanded into the Boston’s Longwood Galleria, leasing an apartment for families of cardiac patients at Children’s Hospital. Founded in honor of Evan Girardi by his Hopkinton High classmates after his untimely death in 2010, Live4EEvan works to spread “heart happiness.” The group’s mission is to improve quality of life for patients and their families affected by cardiac disease. On March 1st members of the organization’s board including Dave Krueger, Jack Nealon, Shane Lavoie and Barbara Girardi toured the apartment and presented a plaque to be installed reading in part “It is our honor to provide you with comfortable and convenient accommodation, so that you can support your loved ones while they receive care at Boston Children’s Hospital.”
Fundraising is ongoing for the housing project and other Live4Evan endeavors. If you would like to contribute consider donating to Brian DeSena who is running his 5th Boston Marathon for the organization. Or, register for the annual 5k Memorial Road Race to be held on September 10th . Registration begins on April 1. Links to Brian’s page and 5k registration along with information about other projects and volunteer opportunities may be found at live4evan.org.
