In preparation for the Boston Marathon on Monday, October 11, no Main Street Corridor Project work is scheduled for October 6, 7, and 8. The remaining drainage work has been suspended and will resume after the Marathon.

Work scheduled for the next two weeks will focus on clean up and roadway and sidewalk repairs resulting in a freshly paved surface on Main Street from Pleasant Street to Ash Street. In addition, work will include new traffic striping and clean up of all construction debris including stockpiled curbing, extra barrels/cones and structures on Marathon Way. Based on further review and a meeting with Public Safety, an additional detour has been added for Thursday, September 30th and the detour route has been modified.

This work will require one lane of alternating traffic through the work areas as well as a detour being set up on Wednesday September 29th and Thursday, September 30th. The detour will close the eastbound lane of Main Street just east of the 85/135 intersection to Hayden Rowe. At the 85/135 intersection, eastbound traffic will be directed to take a right onto Grove Street up to Maple Street then to take a left onto Hayden Rowe to get back to Main Street.
NOTE: School buses will not need to follow the detour set up for Wednesday and Thursday. Details officers will coordinate traffic management.
During this work on street parking will not be accessible where paving operations are occurring. Driveways and vehicular access to businesses will be temporarily blocked while these operations pass by these locations.

Hours of operation are from 7:00am to 3:30pm but may be extended to allow for completion of work. Per normal operations there will be no lane closures or detours before 9:00am.

Anticipated schedule of milling and paving operations is as follows:
Tuesday, September 28 (Milling of Main Street - Ash to Pleasant)
Milling of Main Street will begin on Tuesday, September 28th, at the Main Street/Ash Street intersection and continue westbound to Pleasant Street. The operations will then turn around and continue milling operations eastbound back to Ash Street.

Wednesday, September 29 (Paving of Main Street - Ash to 85/135 Intersection) Paving operations of both east and westbound lanes on Main Street will begin on Wednesday, September 29th, starting at the 135/Ash Street intersection, including Marathon Way, and working towards the 135/85 intersection. An eastbound detour will be utilized with one lane of traffic being maintained throughout the work zone.

Thursday, September 30 (Paving of Main Street - 85/135 Intersection to Pleasant Street) On Thursday, paving operations will continue starting at Pleasant Street to the 135/85 intersection. An eastbound detour will be utilized with one lane of traffic being maintained throughout the work zone. The contractor may need to work extended hours on Thursday to complete all paving. If unable to be completed in one day, the paving will be completed on Friday.
Friday, October 1 (Paving of Main Street - Complete Paving work scheduled the 29th or 30th but not completed)

Paving operations will include any paving work that was not able to be completed on the 29th and 30th. Line striping will begin along the corridor from Pleasant Street to Ash Street.

Monday, October 4 and Tuesday, October 5

Line striping and construction debris cleanup will continue until completed.

Wednesday, October 6, Thursday October 7, and Friday October 8 (No Work - Contractor not onsite).

The Town of Hopkinton appreciates your patience and consideration as we work to prepare for the 125th running of the Boston Marathon.
