Town of Hopkinton seeks a Part-Time (up to 19 hours) Young Adult Librarian

Under the direct supervision of the Library Director the Young Adult Librarian is responsible for managing the Young Adult Services (age 12 to 18) for the library. This includes providing library resources, services and programs aimed at the young adults in the community, assessing their needs, developing and maintaining school and community relationships, creating effective web pages and maintaining library presence in teen social media forums. Position requires a flexible work schedule compatible with school students, including later afternoons, two evenings per week and some Saturdays for library programs.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Arts degree required; Masters in Library and Information Science (MLS) from an ALA accredited program or students in their last year of MLS degree preferred.
• One or more years of professional experience in a public library or internship position.
• Experience working with young adults (ages 12 – 18 years) in a school or library.
• Knowledge of developmental, recreational and educational needs of young adults.
• Knowledge of standard library procedures, current information technology, internet and database search capabilities and current trends in library services for young adults.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively with teens and adults.

Position Pay Range: $21.81 - $30.62 hourly
