Video: Hillers Boys Basketball falls to Wayland in Sectional Finals

This past Saturday, the 8th seeded Hopkinton Hillers Boys Basketball team battled 6th seeded Wayland in the Boys Central Division 2 sectional championship at Worcester State University. Brian Keefe dropped 5 points on a pair of field goals in the 1st quarter to help lead the Hillers to a 12 to 11 lead heading into the 2nd quarter.

During the 2nd quarter, the Hillers had 5 different point contributors and outscored Wayland 16 to 13. Hopkinton led 28 to 24 over Wayland heading to the 2nd half. Elan Rosen came through for 3 field goals in the 3rd quarter but the Wayland offense heated up and they outscored Hopkinton 19 to 12 in the quarter. It was a 43 to 40 Wayland lead heading to the 4th quarter.

During the 4th quarter, the Hillers offense struggled to get going while Senior, Xoren Livingston for Wayland knocked down 4 field goals in the quarter. Wayland outscored Hopkinton 18 to 9 in the 4th quarter and took the game over the Hillers 61 to 49.

In their 1st sectional title game appearance since 2013, Wayland captured their 1st sectional title since 1991. Wayland moves on to the states with a 14 and 7 record while the Hillers Season comes to an end with a record of 12 and 11. Elan Rosen had a team high 16 points for the Hillers during the game.
