On Sunday March 17th, the Hopkinton Hillers Hockey team took on the Wachusett Mountaineers in their 1st ever D3 State Title Appearance. Senior, Grant Gardula struck for Wachusett 2:59 into action for an early lead. At 10:26 left in the 2nd period, Gardula struck again to make it a 2-0 Wachusett lead. Off an Assist by Dan Kirk, Will Quinlan netted the first Hillers goal with 1:29 left in the frame to make it a 2-1 game. At 9:07 left, Kevin Skagerlind (JR) struck for Wachusett to make it a 3-1 game. Kyle Rogers netted another Hillers goal with 5:10 left to get the Hillers back within 1. After some good pressure from the Hillers, time would expire and Wachusett held on for the 3-2 win.
