4th Grader, Abby Newman of Hopkinton and Vineyard Church Family-Life Pastor, Areli Biggers will head to the White House to have dinner with First Lady, Michelle Obama and other state-wide winners of a nation wide cooking competition. The two teamed up and entered the "2016 Healthy Lunchtime Challenge". The contest was a statewide competition hosted by PBS. This is another great accomplishment for Areli Biggers, Areli recently was featured and won a cooking competition on the Food Networks television program "Chopped". The episode of "Chopped" which Areli won aired last week and the Vineyard Church hosted a viewing party while accepting donations towards the food pantry.

WGBH shared the following message on their facebook page explaining the competition winners: "Congratulations!! to Abby Newman of Hopkinton, Massachusetts our state winner of the 2016 Healthy Lunchtime Challenge! First Lady Michelle Obama teamed up with WGBH and other partners to host the challenge and promote cooking and healthy eating. In July, Abby and her guest will attend the 'Kids State Dinner' at the White House with other state winners. She won with her recipe “Fit to Run Cod-Potato Cakes” Says Abby, "“We live at the start of the Boston Marathon. Our school and community become one soul during Marathon season as we are a runners’ town,” says Abby. “We used local ingredients in our recipe plus what our state is known for. We created a healthy and balanced dish packed with protein and fresh ingredients that will bring the marathon spirit to the schools during lunch time. Our town is still healing after the Boston Marathon bombing, and this project gave us an opportunity to see the goodness and unity of our town. Eating healthy helps us stay alert and participate in school activities and extracurricular events as well.” See her recipe and learn more at pbs.org/lunchtimechallenge"
