Mark Your Calendars: Veterans Breakfast April 5

The Senior Center mess hall will serve breakfast for Veterans on Friday, 5 April 2013, at or before 0900 hours. The menu includes eggs, bacon, hash, home fries, biscuits, plenty of coffee -- and chipped beef. All veterans are welcome!

Veterans Remember is fully posted; visit some of your friends here. More Vets are being sought to have a conversation with Dick Gooding in front of the HCAM-TV lens. How about you? If not, what about encouraging one of your buddies?

Hopkinton High School Principal Finalists Announced

Hopkinton Interim Superintendent, Dr. Steven Hiersche, is pleased to announce that he and the High School Principal Screening Committee have identified two outstanding candidates for further consideration for the position of Hopkinton High School Principal. The Screening Committee included representation from building level administration, professional teaching staff, as well as a parent and a High School student representative.

The Screening Committee interviewed five applicants. The following candidates (in alphabetical order) will be further considered:

2013 Massachusetts Water Forum

Representative Carolyn Dykema and Senator Jamie Eldridge, co-chairs of the Water Infrastructure Finance Commission, joined Representative Russell Holmes and Foundation for a Green Future Inc. were the co-hosts at the 2013 Massachusetts Water Forum at the State House held on Friday, March 22 in honor of United Nations World Water Day.

Two Public Hearings Tonight at Planning Board Meeting

Hopkinton's Planning Board meets tonight beginning at 7:30PM in Room 211 at Town Hall. Included on the agenda are two public hearings. Details are listed below:

The Planning Board will resume the public hearing on a proposed 3-lot subdivision on Spring Street entitled “Reservoir View”, located between Castle Hill Rd. and house #70 Spring St., on Monday, March 25, 2013 at 7:45 pm in the Town Hall. The public is invited to attend and
provide comments and recommendations.

Hopkinton Parks & Rec Activities Brochure Now Online

Registration for the spring/summer activities available through Hopkinton's Parks and Recreation Department begins at 10AM on Monday, April 1. In an effort to reduce paper use, the complete brochure is now only available online on the town's website where you can see all of the programs offered.

Boston Marathon® Past Champions Returning to Boston

With less than one month until the 117th Boston Marathon, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) today announced that several former champions of the Boston Marathon will return to Boston to participate in events surrounding this year’s running of the historic race. The 117th running of the world’s oldest annual marathon will take place on Monday, April 15, 2013.

Hanson Wins HCA Logo Contest

The Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) is pleased to announced that Hopkinton High School student Zachary Hanson is the winner of the Arts Space logo contest. The design by 17-year-old Hanson was selected out of 27 entries by middle and high school students. “We appreciate that his logo is not a literal translation of an art, theater and music space, but strongly implies the process of creation,” said Kris Waldman, artistic director at HCA. “Its resemblance to a palette or a scratch board conveys the sense of a space where creativity is boundless.

Two Arrested for Breaking and Entering - State K-9 Assists

On Friday March 22, 2013 at approximately 12:15 pm, the Hopkinton Police Department received a call of two suspicious persons walking around a residence in the west side of town. Upon the police arrival, a male and female were seen running into a wooded area behind the house. It was quickly learned an adjoining residence had been broken into. The female suspect was quickly apprehended at the scene. A perimeter was set up with assistance from Westborough, Upton and State Police. A State Police K-9 was requested and tracked the male suspect through the woods for approximately 35 minutes.
