HPTA Extracurricular Programs For Kindergarten Students

The Hopkinton Parent Teacher Association (HPTA) is excited to open the Extracurricular Program to the kindergarten class for the first time. At Center School, the HPTA will offer four after-school programs including: Bricks4Kids (Legos), Karate, Soft Stick Lacrosse and Little Actors. Sessions will run for 8 weeks (3:10-4:00 pm). If you are interested, here is what you need to know to register online:

Early Registration begins Wednesday, December 10 @ 9:00 pm - Early Registration is open to HPTA members only. Members receive a $20 discount per class.

Hopkinton Seeks Full-Time Administrative Assistant/Billing Clerk

Under the general supervision of the DPW Director, the Administrative Assistant/Billing Clerk performs various activities and provides necessary administrative support to efficiently meet the needs of the DPW, including Water and Sewer Billing and Accounts Payable. This position is responsible for performing a variety of duties which involve daily contact with staff, other Town departments, customers, contractors, and residents. A high degree of confidentiality as well as excellent quality and commitment to customer service is paramount.

Free Community Concert at St. John's

Free Community Christmas Concert at St. John the Evangelist Church, 20 Church Street in Hopkinton at 3:00 PM. The Southeastern Massachusetts Community Concert Band and the St. John Children’s Choir will perform. Everyone, especially families and young ones, are welcome. Donations will be accepted for Project Just Because: hats/gloves for children age 10 and over and toiletries for teens.

Hopkinton’s 300th Anniversary Photography Contest

Submissions should reflect some aspect of the 300th Anniversary theme: Celebrating our Past, Embracing Today and Inspiring our Future.

• Photographs are due to the Hopkinton Center for the Arts (HCA) at 98 Hayden Rowe Street by January 17, 2015

• Drop offs may be made Friday, January 16, 4 - 6 pm and on Saturday, January 17, 2:00-4:00 PM.

• Submissions are limited to 2 pieces per entrant.

• Photo Specifications: Maximum height and width, 42 inches; please mount and wire for hanging.

Elaine A. Anderson, 83

Elaine A. Anderson, 83, of Framingham, passed away December 4, 2014. She
was the wife of Francis Anderson of Framingham.

A resident of Framingham since 1953 and a summer resident of Oak Bluffs,
Elaine is survived by two children, Kristen Walters and her husband
Matthew of Hopkinton, and Kurt Anderson and his wife Krystal of Denton,
TX as well as 5 grandchildren, Michael, Jack, Katie, Kyle, and Jamie.

Shirley A. Terry (Ciarlelli),71

Shirley A. Terry (Ciarlelli),71, of Millbury, MA and formerly of Meriden, CT passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2014 under the loving care of her family. Shirley was born and raised in Wallingford, CT to the late William and Ann Ciarlelli. After graduating high school, Shirley worked at United Aircraft where she met the love of her life, Robert Terry, in 1966. They married and lived in Meriden, CT for more than 35 years while raising two daughters.

Breathalyzer Tests to be Administered at High School Dance

In an effort to continue to promote a safe and healthy school environment, and in keeping with the Hopkinton High School guidelines communicated in our handbook, I am writing to let you know that we will be administering random breathalyzers at the All School dance this Friday, December 5th (7:30 – 10pm). We instituted this policy last year primarily as a preventative measure and in keeping with School Committee Policy JICH.

Under general guidance of the Dispatch Supervisor and direction of the Chief of Police, the Dispatcher is responsible for receiving and transmitting emergency and administrative messages to appropriate law enforcement, fire and emergency personnel in the manner dictated by the State mandated Emergency Medical Dispatch protocol, and department policy. This position involves the use of discretion, independent judgment, and initiative, and must operate within established mandated state and departmental guidelines and procedures.
