The Hopkinton Fire Department is proud to announce the graduation of Firefighter Paul Finneran from the Massachusetts Career Recruit Firefighter Training Program on December 23, 2016. Paul was a part of 37 Graduates from 20 Fire Departments.

The graduates, 35 men and two women, represent the 20 fire departments of: Boxford, Devens, East Bridgewater, Everett, Falmouth, Hanson, Harwich, Holden, Hopkinton, Lakeville, Medford, Methuen, Newton, Norwood, Salem, Seekonk, Westwood, Weymouth, Winthrop and Woburn.

On Monday, December 19, volunteers from the KeepSmilin4Abbie Foundation® made their 4th annual delivery of toys to Boston Children’s Hospital, in honor of Abbie Benford. Abbie passed away at Children’s Hospital on December 18, 2013 after an anaphylactic reaction. Over the course of the three following years, thousands of toys have been donated in Abbie’s name and have brightened the holidays for the 300-400 children who spend their holidays in the hospital each year.

R.A.D. is an internationally taught realistic hands on self defense training class specifically designed for women (15 hours)

 The program teaches and emphasizes awareness, avoidance and physical self defense with the tools we possess with us at all times (hands, feet, elbows, knees, head, etc…)

 All ages, sizes and physical capabilities are welcome (ages 14, 15 or 16; parental waiver will be needed – 13 and under is too young for this class)

 The class is sponsored by the Hopkinton Police Department and free of charge  Manuals are provided

Bring your used Button Cell batteries to the Hopkinton Senior Center to be recycled.

The Hopkinton Permanent Firefighters Local 3772 is selling fire department duty style T-shirts. The start of the Boston Marathon, Team Hoyt, and Boston Strong are highlighted features on these one of a kind T-shirts.

All proceeds will be donated to local community organizations.

The new HCA Gallery rolls into 2017 with a wildly varied selection of work by area artists – from Lissa Banks’s painting of explosively blossoming parrot tulips to William Moser’s awestruck carving in koa wood of King Lohiau of Hawaii to Jean Cummiskey’s glittering miniature mosaic of Boston Harbor.
