The Hopkinton Fire Department, in collaboration with a generous grant awarded by FM Global, is proud to offer the free installation of smoke alarms to Hopkinton residents in need. Per the National Fire Protection Association “Smoke alarms that are properly installed and maintained play a vital role in reducing fire deaths and injuries. If there is a fire in your home, smoke spreads fast and you need smoke alarms to give you time to get out.” Our installation program targets those who are most vulnerable to fire deaths including older adults, families with children, residents with disabilities, veterans and homes with no working smoke alarms. The goal is to ensure residents have the protection of a smoke alarm, but because they won’t prevent every death we will also perform a home safety inspection and educate residents on creating a home fire escape plan. To take advantage of this community risk reduction opportunity please call our Fire Prevention Bureau at 508-497-2323 Ext. 4 to schedule a home safety inspection and evaluation of your current alarms. Supply is limited and alarms will be distributed on a first-come-first-serve basis.
