Editorial: Supporting Jon Graziano for School Committee

By contributor,

My name is Troy Mick and I am writing in support of Jon Graziano’s re-election to the School Committee. I have had the pleasure of working with Jon on several town committees and am impressed with his dedication and leadership he provides on the School Committee.

Jon’s background in financial planning and process improvements has made him an integral part of the budget process and he has helped increase the transparency of the budget process as well as the fiscal management process as a whole. His hard work has helped maintain the value that has continued to launch our schools in the top state and national rankings. He has worked to maintain that value while still improving the programs of our schools, such as implementing Full Day Kindergarten for all students, and expanding the curricular and extra-curricular programs at our middle and high schools while continuing to reduce fees.

Jon has been a critical part of the Elementary School Building Committee and has helped the committee advance through the MSBA process while being sure to communicate clearly and effectively to the community so we can come together to propose the best educational model and solution for Center School. There will be significant growth and change in our community over the next few years and it will be important to have committee members with the knowledge and experience to effectively steer us through the challenges that we will face.

Since Jon and his family moved to Hopkinton they have been unwavering advocates of our schools and have given much of their time to help. Jon’s leadership and experience will be an important component of our school’s success moving forward. I encourage you to join me and vote for Jon Graziano for School Committee on May 18.
