Hillers Sports Update 9-23-2016

High School Updates:

-HIllers Varsity Boys Soccer defeats Bellingham 6-0. Hillers improve to 2-3-0 on the season.

-Hillers Varsity Girls Soccer defeats Bellingham 6-1. Hillers earn their 1st win of the season and improves to 1-3-2.

-Dover-Sherborn defeats the Hillers on the golf course 211-215. Hillers golf is now 7-2 on the season.

HMS Girls Soccer:
-Hopkinton Middle School Girls Soccer: The girls’ soccer team lost to Mendon-Upton yesterday 4-2. Goals were scored by Riley Delaney and Brooke Farrell. Other standouts for the game were Emily Viehl, Tiffany Mikulis and Sara Bernardo. The girls play again today at home against Wellesley at 4:30.

Middle School Cross Country:
-The Hopkinton Middle School cross country teams opened their season with wins over Ashland at home on September 22. Battling hot, dry conditions as well as the Clockers, the Hillers won the girls' meet, 25-31, and the boys' meet, 28-29.

Seventh graders Kiki Fossbender, Gabi Ciri, and Ava Baumann swept the top three spots to lead the way for the girls over the 1.9 mile course. Hayley Glassburn and Cathryn Leighton took the next two scoring spots for Hopkinton to secure the victory, with Grace Joy, Paige Leighton, Tori Fischer, and Celia Jenkins providing strong back-up just behind.

Ashland runners took the top two spots in the boys' race before Pierce Farrell and Jake Lacoche led a strong Hopkinton pack. Other scorers included Declan Herr, Jackson Schlussel, and Colby Michaud, while Matthew Burdulis, Will Tedstone, and David Stedt were instrumental in getting ahead of Ashland's fifth runner to squeak out the one point win. Rookie Chase Dickson also put in a strong performance for the Hillers.

HMS Boys Soccer:
The HMS boys’ soccer team lost to Miscoe Middle School in Mendon 2-0. Ross Comcowich, Justin Wade and Christian Covino played well for the Hillers. The boys’ play home today versus Wellesley on Field 5. The game should start about 3:45
