Hollliston Republican Town Committee to Hold Public Hearing on Proposed Tax Inreases

By contributor,

Last week, without even a hearing, the Massachusetts House put on the calendar for debate tomorrow a bill that raises taxes by $500 million. It contains tax on utility bills, a $1 per pack hike in cigarette taxes, a gas tax indexed to inflation and a new service sales tax on computer design work.

Unfortunately, our State Representative Carolyn Dykema and fellow Democrats squashed all attempts to allow public hearings on these proposed tax increases. If that isn't bad enough, motions to allow more time for public feedback and amendments were voted down on straight party lines.

By contributor,

Dear Editor,

I am writing in support of Amy Ritterbusch for Hopkinton School Committee. I know Amy will continue to uphold the strong educational values that make this town a coveted place to live.

I have spent the last two years serving on the Hopkins school council with Amy. I knew of her dedication to the schools but during these last two years, I have now experienced first hand her passion and in-depth knowledge of the school system.

Hopkinton's Tentative Road Work Schedule

By contributor,

From Highway Manager Mike Mansir:

As we approach the start of our roadway resurfacing season I would like to thank the residents of Hopkinton for their continued support of our Pavement Management Program. We had a very successful 2012 season and hope to continue that in 2013 as funding allows. Each street that is on this year’s list has been inspected and evaluated to determine which treatment method is best based on its current condition. This will help ensure that we are maximizing the use of our Chapter 90 money and Pavement Management funds in the most effective way.
