HMS Soccer Improves to 9-0-2

The Hopkinton Middle School boys' soccer team improved its record to
9-0-2 with a 2-1 victory in Weston. Scott Babagian scored a goal in
the first half to tie the game 1-1. Chris Mastroianni made a save
versus a penalty kick to keep the game deadlocked heading into
halftime. Brian Giusti scored the game winning goal late in the second
half. The entire team played well as the Hopkinton/Weston four-game
series now stands at 2-0-2 in favor of the Hillers.

Boosters Membership

The Hopkinton Boosters have launched a new Membership campaign this year that includes limited edition thank you gifts only available to members, like the directors chair pictured. Over the past four years the Boosters have donated over $100,000 to support athlete projects that are not covered by sports fees or the school budget.

Warren and Kennedy in Hopkinton on Saturday

This just in from the Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee: Rally with Elizabeth Warren, Joe Kennedy & Senator Max Cleland this Saturday, October 20 from 2:30pm to 4:00pm at the Laborer's Training Center, 7 Laborers Way in Hopkinton.

"Senator Max Cleland knows about fighting for what he believes in," said Democratic Town Committee Secretary Dick Duggan, "and this weekend, he’s fighting for Elizabeth Warren in Hopkinton."

New Engineering Firm for Hopkinton

The Planning Board voted 5 to 2 to appoint BETA Group, Inc. as the engineering peer review firm for the town of Hopkinton during the meeting on October 15. There had been a meeting on September 24 in which BETA was reviewed alongside Fay, Spofford, & Thorndike LLC and Lenard Engineering, Inc.

HS Principal Resigns

Dear Parents and Hopkinton Community,

It is with mixed emotions that I announce my resignation as Hopkinton High School principal, effective December 31st, 2012. I have recently accepted a position as an Associate Director for the Commission on Public Secondary Schools at the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). In this role, I will have the opportunity to work with schools across New England to help ensure quality educational experiences for all children.

Marie Fecteau-Evers, 69

Marie Fecteau-Evers, 69, died at home Sunday, October 14, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the loving wife of Robert Evers. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Leo and Irene (Tymon) Fecteau.

Hillers Dig Pink Tonight

Wednesday, October 17th, the Hopkinton Varsity, Junior Varsity and Freshman volleyball teams will host Holliston in a "Dig Pink" match. The Varsity Volleyball team plays at the High School Athletic Center at 6:30pm, the Junior Varsity team plays at the Athletic Center at 5:00pm, and the Freshman team plays at Hopkinton Middle School Brown Gym at 5:00pm. Wear pink and join us at the gym on this important night!

Hillers Evens Weston

The Hopkinton Middle School boys' soccer team played to a 1-1 tie in Weston moving the team's record to 8-0-2. Brian Gaughan scored off a corner kick from Ben Fargiano in the first half. Kenny Rhodes and Chris Mastroianni played exceptional in goal for the Hillers. Everett Rolph, Ryan Mastoianni and Justin Blanchard played solid games. The boys next play in Weston on Thursday with a time TBA.

Hydrants Flushed on Wednesday

We will be flushing hydrants in the Alprilla Farm Road and Legacy Farm Road area on Wednesday, October 17th at approximately 9:30 AM. This flushing is necessary in order to test the mains and prepare them for active service. Please check your water before using it to ensure that it has cleared from the flushing, should any discoloration occur. We estimate the flushing to take approximately two hours to complete.
