Hiller Golf Tops Blackhawks

October 6, 2015 - The Varsity team traveled to Bungay Brook Golf Course today to play Bellingham. The Hillers were able to defeat The Black Hawks with a score of 237 to 294. Leading the way for the Hillers today were our three captains. Geoff Holler with a 37, Matt Johnson with a 38, and Jake Doherty with a solid 39.

Hiller Shut Down Mustangs 28-0

Senior QB Jake Kelleher threw two touchdowns to Matt Lindquist while Jack Vaccarri had a 70 yard punt return for a touchdown to pace Hopkinton over Medway 28-0 in Friday night action. The Hiller defense pitched their first shut out of the year led behind Jack Guelfi's 10 tackles. Connor Hebert scored a 13 yard TD and San Lehman rushed for over 100 yards. The Hillers take on TVL rival, Holliston next Friday at Dave Hughes Stadium. Go Hillers!

Robinson Given Service Award

George Robinson, Bus Driver for the Hopkinton Senior Center received a Community Service Award at the BayPath Elder Services’ Annual meeting, for his contribution to the well being of elders in the town of Hopkinton.

George goes above and beyond the duties of transporting seniors in town. He keeps everyone laughing and smiling at the same time reciting the “Bus Rules”. He plans several Day Trips a month which include day cruises, museums, dinner theaters, seasonal events as well as shopping and antiquing trips.

Hopkinton Awarded $14M Grant for New Center Elementary School

In Boston on Wednesday, September 30, the MSBA Board of Directors voted unanimously to authorize the executive director to enter into a Project Scope and Budget Agreement with Hopkinton, finalizing and making official the numbers that we've been expecting. ESBC Clerk Rob Nickerson has reached out to local press with supplemental information, upcoming ESBC events, and the attached photo. Thanks everyone for staying strong and together to get us this far, a true team effort!

Selectmen Approve Two New Town Committees

The Town of Hopkinton is encouraging all residents who are interested in participating in the planning efforts for the recently acquired town-owned parcels to submit their applications now.

At the 2015 Annual Town Meeting, the town strategically purchased three new parcels of land: the Pratt Farm Estate and two parcels on Hayden Rowe, commonly known at the Irvine parcel and the Todaro parcel; the former primarily being used for a proposed new Center School.

Fatima Day at the Shrine in October

On Tuesday, October 13th, the Xaverian Missionaries will hold the traditional Fatima Day celebration in honor of Our Lady. It is going to be our sixth and last Fatima Day of 2015. The main celebrant and homilist will be The Most Reverend Edgar M. Da Cunha, SDV – Bishop of Fall River – MA. The theme will be: “Mary from the heart of a Bishop.” The evening begins with sing-along at 6:30 PM and Mass at 7:00 PM. At 8:00 PM, there will be a Rosary and Candlelight procession followed by refreshments served in the Shrine’s Hall. All are welcome!

October Mission Retreat at Fatima Shrine

The Xaverian Missionaries at Fatima Shrine in Holliston are offering day Retreats each month on themes for the celebration of Consecrated Life, called by Pope Francis as well as celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Mission Document from Vatican II Ad Gentes. These retreats will take place at the Shrine on the Second Sunday of each Month, giving those who come an opportunity to celebrate the many ways that Mission can be expressed and lived.

The next retreat will be Sunday, October 11th, with the first reflection given during the 11:00 AM Mass.

Golfers Win in Holliston

The Hiller Varsity took the short bus ride down to Holliston to Pine Crest C.C. and defeated the Holliston Panthers by a score of 232 – 260. The Hillers record is now 9 – 1 and are still tied with Medfield for first place in the TVL. They have reached one of their team goals this season by qualifying for the MIAA State Tournament. The Hillers have reached the State Tournament for the 18th year in a row. Here are the scores from today’s victory. The par is 33 at Pine Crest and it became very cold during and after the round today.

Humidity was at an average of 73%, the peak was 97% while the lowest was 26%. Wind Speed averaged 1.2 MPH, while reaching a high of 6 MPH. Precipitation accumulated 0 inches last week in Hopkinton. After an extremely dry August and September, yesterday provided a big dose of much needed rain. Hopkinton saw 3+ inches fall, causing some major flooding in areas of town. Overall we had another well above average month, with this September being the 3d warmest on record. Now all eyes are on Joaquin as it starts to make it’s move Northward.
