Middle School Evacuated for Burning Debris

Dear Parents/Guardians,

At approximately 7:20 this morning, one of the lights in the MS Auditorium briefly ignited debris inside the fixture. The fire was quickly extinguished, but to ensure safety, the building was evacuated.

Hopkinton Fire Department responded and investigated the area. At 7:45 a.m. they determined it was safe for students and staff to re-enter the building and for us to resume our school day.

Mandatory Water Ban Now In Effect

We are mandated by the town’s water management permit with the State, to limit nonessentialout door use, to protect stream flow, aquatic life and ensure sustainable drinking water. The town is required to implement a MANDATORY State of Water Supply Conservation from May 1st through September 30th each year, pursuant to the town’s water use restriction by-law. Under chapter 199-6 Section F; Lawn sprinklers may be used for lawn watering, two days per week, outside of the hours of 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Hillers Tame Panthers 3-2

The Hopkinton High School Girls Varsity Tennis team hopped on a bus Thursday to Holliston to face their TVL competitor and drove home after beating the Panthers 3-2.

Outstanding performances by Olivia Anderson and Zoe Komodromos blanking their opponents at #1 and #2 Singles 6-0, 6-0. Hopkinton picked up it’s 3rd point at #1 Doubles when Sydney and Laney Emerson won 6-1,6-1.

The Hillers remain undefeated with a league record of 5-0 and a overall record of 7-0. Next stop Medfield today at 3:30 pm.

The Town of Hopkinton seeks 3 Intermittent Laborers for 40 hours per week available to work between approximately May 11th through September 1st to perform the following duties:

- Lawn mowing
- Weed trimming
- Miscellaneous property cleanups
- Other maintenance-type related duties  

Qualifications: 
- Ability to drive a one-ton dump truck with trailer
- Prior experience with landscaping and/or maintenance
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions

Hillers Top Raiders 4-1

The Hiller Girls Tennis Team hosted a battle of a match against the Raiders from Dover- Sherborn, beating them 4-1

Freshman Zoe Komodromos had a comeback win at 2nd Singles 2-6, 7-5, 10-4. After losing the first set, and fending off 3 match points at 4-5 in the second, Zoe took the set 7-5 and sustained the momentum in the deciding 10 point super tiebreaker to clinch the victory.

Claire L. Robbins, 87

Claire L. Robbins, 87, of Hopkinton, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was the cherished daughter of the late Agnes (Wilcox) and Arthur McIntyre and beloved wife to Walter W. Robbins of Hopkinton for 67 years.

Claire enjoyed spending time with and caring for her family, singing and enjoying music, knitting, and exploring the East Coast in her motor home.
