Advancing Women in the Business of Science & Technology

Selectman Michelle Gates would like to inform all Hopkinton residents of some unique opportunities for women. The WEST Organization is hosting a series of workshops on the campuses of MIT and Harvard University for opportunities to help women advance in the fields of science and technology. Launched in 2000, the WEST organization provides a forum for women in science and technology industries to network and share information about career advancement and skill development.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THE CONSTRUCTION CREW ON MAIN STREET HAS HIT A GAS LINE CAUSING THE POLICE DEPARTMENT TO SHUT DOWN MAIN STREET COMPLETELY FROM GROVE STREET TO PLEASANT STREET.

WESTBOUND TRAFFIC IS BEING DETOURED SOUTH (LEFT) ON GROVE STREET, WEST (RIGHT) ON MAPLE STREET, AND NORTH (RIGHT) ON PLEASANT STREET BACK TO MAIN STREET. THE EASTBOUND TRAFFIC WILL CONTINUE AS IT HAS BEEN FOR THE DETOUR DUE TO THE CONSTRUCTION.

PLEASE PLAN EXTRA TIME FOR YOUR TRAVELS AS THIS IS CAUSING DELAYS.

Michael P. Fortunato, a man of endless patience and a caring heart, always thinking of
others before himself, passed away Monday June 17, 2013 at Metro-West
Medical Center in Framingham. He was the loving father of Marissa, Maria,
and Taylor, and soulmate and husband of Colette. He also leaves a brother,
John, and his wife, Joanne, of Mendon. “Mike, you will always be in our
hearts. Te amo.”

Lelisa Desisa to Gift Boston Marathon Championship Medal to City of Boston

John Hancock Financial and the Boston Athletic Association today announced that the 2013 Boston Marathon champion, Lelisa Desisa of Ethiopia, will gift his championship medal to the City of Boston, on behalf of all Boston Marathon runners, to honor the victims and families affected by the tragic events of April 15, 2013.

The Assistant Town Clerk assists with the oversight of the daily operations of this tri-functional office and its related responsibilities.

Hopkinton is 1 of 54 Towns Participating in Commonwealth Connect App

Secretary of Administration and Finance Glen Shor today joined officials from the City of Boston and local officials from participating municipalities to formally launch the Commonwealth Connect app used by 54 cities and towns across the Commonwealth.

The smart phone application is based on the Citizens Connect app developed for use by the City of Boston and allows residents to report quality of life problems, such as graffiti and potholes, in real time directly to their local government for resolution.

HCA’s Summer Classes to Include New Performances & Dance Classes

Registration is currently underway for the Hopkinton Center for the Arts summer classes, which will include some new dance classes, a two-week Comedy Production Workshop for grades fourth through ninth, a three-week Summer Theater Workshop for grades fourth through eighth, as well as the regular offerings of acting, musical theater, and voice classes for age groups ranging from pre-kindergarten up to adulthood. All classes will take place at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts farmhouse, 98 Hayden Rowe Street, Hopkinton.
