The Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual Holiday Party on Thursday, December 13 at the Hopkinton Country Club. Beginning with a reception at 6PM, dinner will be served at 7PM. As in past years, three individuals will be recognized for their "Distringuished Service" to the community. This year's honorees are former selectmen Mary Pratt and Ron Clark and Rev. Dick Germaine.

Tickets are $50 per person and will be available at the Middlesex Savings Bank, 10 Main Street,, Hopkinton, MA.

Selectmen announced at their December 4 meeting that Hopkinton has now achieved Bio-Ready “Gold” status with the Mass Biotech Council, the second highest rating, which measures the town’s commitment to supporting biotech companies.

“We’ve actually moved up the bioscience ladder consistently over the last few years,” said Chairman Ben Palleiko, “and now we are looking forward to that being beneficial to us in town as we look to attract new businesses.”

On Wednesday December 5, Hopkinton received a land conservation grant in the amount of $400,000 that will go towards the purchase of approximately 70 acres of land known as the Elmwood Farm.

While excavating for the expansion project at Golden Pond Assisted Living, work crews unearthed a fully intact, four foot statue of the Virgin Mary.

“People are amazed,” said Executive Director William Marr. “Some people were close to tears when they saw it.”

Marr says he can’t believe that the statue did not get damaged. It is just about the full size of the scoop on the back hoe and it came up all in one piece. The workers discarded it and went on with their excavating, but Marr sent someone to pick up the statue and store it in a safe place.

The Massachusetts Office of Campaign & Political Finance
(OCPF) has issued its finding in response to a complaint filed this
summer by the Massachusetts Republican Party against Rep. Carolyn
Dykema. OCPF issued its official finding in a letter dated Nov. 20,
2012. In its letter, OCPF announced it has concluded its review
and found that Dykema did not inappropriately benefit from door prizes
contributed by local businesses in support of a senior citizen picnic,
as alleged.

The first meet of the season saw 4 front running squads square off at the Hiller Athletic Center. On the girls side it was very close with Hopkinton prevailing 47 to 39.
The boys' meet proved to be tough as well with Hopkinton coming out on top 53 1/2 to 32 1/2.
