Community Notice: Hopkinton ZAC Public Forum on October 21st 2019

The Hopkinton Zoning Advisory Committee is holding a public forum on Monday, October 21, 2019 at 7:00 PM in Room 215/216 at Town Hall. The purpose of this forum is to hear ideas and proposals for desired changes to the Zoning Bylaw and/or the Zoning Map. Zoning bylaws generally regulate the use of land, buildings and structures. This is an opportunity to propose changes to the land uses permitted in specific areas in Hopkinton, the manner in which certain uses are permitted, dimensional requirements, or other ideas with respect to land use regulation.

Lauren Anderson Field Restoration Project Hits Fundraising Goal

The Lauren Anderson Field Restoration Project has hit its fundraising goal. Thanks to the efforts of Lauren’s family, classmates and teammates, town residents, the school district and community organizations, the project has raised more than $30,000 in donations and in-kind services since it was launched on August 1.

“Hopkinton has always been a small town with a big heart,” said Kathy Kilduff, team leader. “It has been inspiring to see how many people remember Lauren and are willing to support this project.”

Hopkinton Historical Society: Celebrating Hopkinton's Fitch Family: How One Family Influenced Our Town & America

Establishing roots here in the 1700s, the extended Fitch family made significant contributions to the life of Hopkinton and beyond. Early members included the prominent clergymen Elijah Fitch and Nathaniel Howe. In the 19th century, family members were farmers, town employees, abolitionists, political activists and Civil War soldiers. Descendants include best-selling children's author Lucy Fitch Perkins who spent her high school years at the family home, Elmwood Farm on Ash Street, still standing today.

Free Pasta Dinner at St. Paul’s October 30

The October Community Pasta Supper at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 61 Wood Street (Rte. 135) will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30. All are welcome to this event, which is being supported by the churches of the Hopkinton Christian Service Connection. This pasta supper is held for the community on the last Wednesday of every month.

The meal will feature pasta (gluten free available), vegetarian tomato sauce, meatballs on the side, green salad, bread, beverages, and dessert.
The pasta supper is free, although donations will be accepted.

Video: Select Board Recognizes Recipient of the Young Hero Award

The Select Board recognized Remi VanDeusen who received a "Young Hero Award" for getting medical attention to his Father who suffered an allergic reaction after being stung by a bee. Fire Prevention Officer, Tim Healy stated "the Father's Vital Signs were critical and if it weren't for the critical actions of Remi things could have been different."

Remi was recognized by Fire Chief, Stephen Slaman, Fire Marshall, Peter Ostroskey and received a State Citation from Representative, Carolyn Dykema.
