Public Notice: No Lawn Watering Permitted

Important water supply notice. Due to the elevated drought conditions to severe, a dramatic increase in water use and a rapid decrease in ground and surface water levels, it has become necessary to prohibit ALL lawn watering effective immediately. We continue to receive very little rain to help recharge our aquifers. It is Imperative that everyone turn off all automatic lawn irrigation systems, and stop all forms of lawn watering. This is necessary to ensure a safe and adequate supply for our daily essential needs and for firefighting capabilities.

On this edition of HCAM news, 10 female teenagers completed a week of emergency services and firefighting training at Camp Bailout hosted by the Ashland Fire Department, Ashland Post 77 Legion baseball completed their season, we caught up with Third Basemen and 2015 Hopkinton High School Graduate, Mike Messier and Courtney will get you up to date with the latest programming coming up on our HCAM channels with the HCAM insider, but first here are some happenings in Hopkinton, you should know about.

Roadwork Notice 8-3, 8-4 2016

Asphalt paving work is scheduled for Wednesday August 3 and Thursday August 4 on the following streets.

Wednesday
Hayden Rowe St – Chestnut St to EMC Park. 8am-4pm. Chestnut St @ Hayden Rowe St will be closed from approximately 8am-10am so the intersection can be paved. Please seek alternate routes.

Thursday
Wood St – From the Rt. 495 bridges to 700’ west of Whisper Way. 9am-3pm. One lane of traffic will be open.

Please expect delays and seek alternate routes.

Hopkinton Center Trail Second Annual "Art on the Trail" Takes Shape

The Hopkinton Upper Charles Trail Committee invites the public to the second annual Art on the Trail exhibition opening along the Hopkinton Center Trail on Sunday, August 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. The exhibit includes 20 new sculpture installations, created by resident artists and groups from Hopkinton and nearby towns. At 2:15, speakers will deliver introductory remarks at the Center Trail entrance across from Hopkinton Lumber, and at 2:45, the artists will accompany the group on a walk to visit each installation.

Video: Project Just Because "Christmas in July"

Project Just Because hosted their 5th annual Christmas in July event. This years event was hosted at the Faith Community Church. The event featured raffles, auctions and more to benefit the charity. Project Just Because became a 501(c)(3) in 2004 and raises funds towards family needs in the community. Raffle and auction items were donated to the charity from various businesses in town and the event once again had a great turnout.

Video: Greyhound Friends International Update

Greyhound Friends in Hopkinton hosted the annual International Update. The event featured speakers from Spain, Ireland, Argentina, Italy and the United States. The speakers addressed critical rescue operations such as stopping Greyhounds from being imported to countries with very little animal welfare laws. The update also addressed Greyhound health risks and allowed Greyhound adopters to talk about their experiences. View highlights of the event below courtesy of Greyhound Friends.

Rubber Chip Seal resurfacing work is scheduled for Monday August 1 and Tuesday August 2 on the following streets.

Monday
Downey St – Full length. Road closed to through traffic 9am-1pm.
Downey PL – Full length. Road closed to through traffic 9am-1pm.
Hayward St – South St to Second Rd. Road closed to through traffic 1pm-3pm.
Saddle Hill Rd – Edgehill Rd to Fruit St.3pm-5pm one lane of traffic will be open.

Tuesday
South Mill St – Full length. Road closed to through traffic 7am-5pm.
