During the winter of 2013-2014, award-winning Massachusetts wildlife photographer Peter Christoph spent 14 full days along the Atlantic coast following the movements of a few snowy owls during their winter migration to the beaches of Salisbury, Hampton and Plum Island. They flew quite a distance from their home on the frozen tundra in the high Arctic and Peter was there to capture these rare and intimate photographs of the snowy owls taken in their winter habitat.

The United Way of Tri-County is requesting nominations for its 2015 MetroWest/495 Corridor Volunteer of the Year Awards, meant to recognize the community’s most dedicated volunteers.

Nominees for Youth Volunteer of the Year, for area youth attending a local middle or high school between the ages of 12 and 18, and Volunteer of the Year, for a MetroWest volunteer over the age of 18 will be accepted through Friday, February 6. Nominees should exemplify the spirit and commitment of improving the quality of life for others in the MetroWest/495 Corridor.

The Elementary School Building Committee has a busy January ahead of them. As the timeline to choose site alternatives gets shorter, the committee has many opportunities this month for townspeople to get involved before a final decision is made.

On Wednesday, January 14th, at 7:00 p.m., the ESBC will host a public presentation at the public library. This informational presentation will be aided by the library's recent installation of site alternative test fit illustrations, now displayed around the library.

The JV hockey team has extended their unbeaten streak from the last four games of last year, through the first 8 games of this year.
On Sunday, they took on Hopedale/Millis beating them by a score of 6-3
Harrison Black had the first goal unassisted. Freeman Alfano had the second goal on the feed from Kyle Canty. Hunter Temple then put one in from Henry Kosheff and Canty. Freeman picked up his second goal of the night from Canty and Griffin. Peter Mitchell rounded out the scoring with an unassisted goal.

Despite being out shot 42-19 the Hillers put up a great showing against one of the top Tri-Valley teams in Medfield. The action was back and forth and the Hillers had a couple of early chances almost scoring off the opening face-off. The Medfield squad was solid up and down the line up and the Hillers were having to work for their opportunities. After going down 2-0, the Hillers got on the board with a nice tip in front by Brandon Carty, on a shot from Owen Delaney, who received a nice pass from brother Connor.

Helen A. Haven, 91, of Hopkinton, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Countryside Nursing Home in Framingham. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Adele (Zambelli) Tedeschi and Lena (Dieana) Tedeschi. She was the wife of the late Donald Lyman Haven.

The Hopkinton Senior Center is having a Pizza Party Lunch on Thursday, January 22 at 12 noon. Hopkinton resident and musician John Guido will entertain the crowd.

Cost: $5 per person.
Menu: Pizza and Salad.

Meatball Subs or Roast Beef sandwiches are available by advanced request at sign up by Tuesday, Jan 20 at the Front Desk.
