To the Editor:

This year, Hopkinton voters have a candidate running for School Committee
who offers a fresh perspective. Her name is
Ellen Scordino. I have had the pleasure of meeting Ellen at several
civic and school events, and have gotten to know her as a person and
candidate. Ellen offers a new voice, and a respect for taxpayers’ hard earned dollars,
while supporting our top-notch school system.

To the Editor:

Hopkinton is known for its excellence in education and is consistently ranked among the best public schools in the nation. The quality and integrity of our community leaders is critical in keeping our town and education system moving in the right direction.

Boston Marathon: The Aftermath

michelle's picture

Where do I begin? The Boston Marathon is one of Hopkinton’s biggest news events, and, as a reporter and local media person since 2004, I have been covering the marathon for several years. I still remember my first year at the start line with an official press pass as a reporter for the Hopkinton Independent and the thrill of being allowed to mix and mingle with the big media outlets. Being in Hopkinton at the start line is a unique experience for anyone, but holds particular meaning for those of us who live here, even if we are not runners.

Supporting Ritterbusch for School Committee

Dear Editor,

I am writing in support of Amy Ritterbusch for Hopkinton School Committee. I know Amy will continue to uphold the strong educational values that make this town a coveted place to live.

I have spent the last two years serving on the Hopkins school council with Amy. I knew of her dedication to the schools but during these last two years, I have now experienced first hand her passion and in-depth knowledge of the school system.

In Support of School Committee Hiring Process

Dear Editor,

Last week the Hopkinton School Committee selected Cathy MacLeod to serve the citizens of Hopkinton as the next Superintendent of Schools. Their decision followed a very thorough process I was pleased to participate in, along with several other Hopkinton residents, as a member of the Superintendent Search Committee.

In Response to Dykema's Response

Dear Editor,

I am writing to respond Rep. Dykema’s letter explaining her vote against putting committee votes online. The day after her vote in the House, the Senate voted to put these votes online. Our representative is being misleading at best.
Let me further remind everyone that last year when questioned about putting these votes online, she said the technology was now there and she would “absolutely” vote for it.
