Golden Pond Assisted Living: “The Magic of Music”

Hopkinton, Massachusetts–In observance of National Assisted Living Week®, September 7 to 13, Golden Pond will host a series of events developed as a special opportunity to bring together residents, families, employees, volunteers and the surrounding community to celebrate “Magic of Music.”

The “Magic of Music” celebrates the role music plays in the daily lives of assisted living residents. The theme also celebrates the bonds built between residents and their families, friends, staff, and volunteers that make the assisted living community a home for them.

New Resident Social

The Hopkinton Public Library Foundation cordially invites you to attend our quarterly New Resident Social on September 18 at the Hopkinton Public Library, 13 Main Street, at 7:00 PM. If you have moved to town this past Spring or Summer, you are welcome. Come meet other new members of your community! If you know a family member, neighbor, or friend who is new to Hopkinton, please let them know about this fun evening for new residents. Light refreshments will be provided. Children are welcome to attend, and crafts will be present for them.

During National Preparedness Month we ask you, your family, community and workplace to take action by planning a National PrepareAthon! Day on or around September 30th. We recommend using digital media tools as a way to promote National Preparedness Month, September 1-30th.

School Starts Thursday, Speed Limits Enforced

On Thursday September 4, 2014 the Hopkinton Public Schools will be back in session. All School Zone Speed Signs located around the public school entrance have been turned on and are in working order. The lawful speed limit in a school zone during school hours is 20 mph. Hopkinton Police Officers will be out monitoring and enforcing speed limits. With the nice weather that we are experiencing there will be several students walking or riding their bikes to school. The crosswalks around the schools will be monitored and enforced.

Jane Welzel, 59

Jane Welzel, a five-time Olympic Marathon Trials participant, race director of the Mountain Avenue Mile and Bacon Strip Races and one of the pioneers of the women's running movement, died Sunday after a brief battle with cancer. She was 59.

Photography Celebrated In Juried Art Show, Upcoming Exhibit Curated by Renowned Artist & Professor

(September 2, 2014 - HOPKINTON, MA) The Hopkinton Center for the Arts has announced an open call for art for its upcoming juried Photography Show. Juried by artist and professor Chehalis Hegner, the exhibit runs September 30-October 30, 2014 and features a public opening reception and awards ceremony on Friday, October 3, 2014.

Evan Girardi Memorial 5K Race/Walk and Event

The 2nd Annual Evan Girardi Memorial 5K Race/Walk and Event begins at Hopkinton’s EMC Park, with a route through scenic downtown Hopkinton and concluding at Hopkinton High School, 90 Hayden Rowe St., Hopkinton, MA on Saturday, September 6, at 9:00 AM. Please join us for our annual gathering and fundraiser (race, live music, raffles, food, face painting, vendors). All proceeds directly benefit families and patients effected by Congenital Heart Disease (CHD).

St. Paul’s “Welcome Back Sunday” September 14

HOPKINTON, MASS. (September 2, 2014) – St. Paul’s Episcopal Church will be hosting its annual “Welcome Back Sunday” on September 14. Current and potential church members are invited to join in this homecoming celebration, which will include Sunday School registration at 10:30 a.m. and a Holy Eucharistic service at 10:45 a.m. (which is the new starting time for that service).
